Type of Numbers BODMAS and Use of Calculator Level 2-6

This video covers lessons on the type of numbers, application of BODMAS and effective use of the calculator. It is intended for both Foundation and Higher GCSE Maths.

Key Points and Common Mistakes:

  • BODMAS sometimes called BIDMAS; the O in the BODMAS stands for Other (including indices, square roots, etc) however I in BIDMAS stands for Indices. Although both almost same for GCSE Maths, BODMAS is more accurate as it covers wider operations.
  • An effective use of a calculator is critical for your success in Maths education. To save time, try to enter the least amount of numbers and operations in a calculator if you can use your mind to help.
  • My personal advice is to use calculator ONLY if it is unavoidable due to large numbers or root of a number that does not result in an integer number.
